Park Güell Tickets: What You Pay and Where To Book

A standard adult ticket to the Park Güell Monumental Zone costs 18,00 EUR, VAT included. Park Güell tickets are sold online only: there is no ticket office on the hill and nothing at all is sold at the gate, so entry to the mosaic terrace, the Hypostyle Room and the Dragon Staircase has to be booked before you set off. The rest of Gaudí's park above Gràcia - the viaducts, the pine paths, the viewpoint at the top - stays free to walk, and everything on this page is about the part you pay for.

Two things catch people out more than the price. You get a 30-minute window to walk through the gate, and once you leave you cannot come back in. Miss the window and the ticket is dead, with no refund.

Park Güell tickets: what the operator includes and what a partner adds

There are two places to buy, and the useful question is not which is cheaper. The price is set by a municipal company and published, so that part is settled. The question is which one can actually sell you the visit you have in mind.

Start here, because for a lot of people it decides it. There are four situations where the operator will simply not sell you what you are after:

  • Your date is more than about three months out. The operator has not released it yet. A partner will take the booking now - we have confirmed dates beyond the operator window going through checkout.
  • You want your money back if the trip falls through. The operator does not refund - its own wording is that the fee is not returned "under any circumstances, except in exceptional cases", each judged individually. Only the partner sells a refundable option.
  • You need a guided tour in German, Italian, Japanese or Chinese. The operator runs tours in Catalan, Spanish, English and French only.
  • You want this plus Sagrada Família, Casa Batlló or a city pass on one booking. The operator sells its own park and museum, and nothing else.

About the price you will see on a partner listing. It is a "from" figure, and that figure is the cheapest cell across every option, date and age band on the board - not the adult rate. Park Güell is run by a municipal company at a fixed public price, so no reseller undercuts the operator on an identical product. The few euros of difference buy you the audio guide and the refundable option. They do not buy a shorter queue.

So choose on terms, not on headline price - and note that the two channels fail in opposite directions. If your dates might shift but you are definitely going, the operator is better: it moves your slot free up to the day before, and the partner moves nothing. If the trip itself might fall through, the partner is better: the refundable option returns your money and the operator keeps it. Match the channel to the risk you actually have.

💡 Pro Tip
Match the channel to how your plans are likely to break
Ask which way your plans would fail. A slot that needs moving while the trip still happens is an operator problem, and the operator fixes it free up to one day before. A trip that collapses altogether is a partner problem, and only the refundable option pays you back. Buying the refundable upgrade to guard against a time change is paying for the wrong insurance, and it is the mistake I see most often.

Four rules that void a Park Güell ticket

None of these are obvious from the booking page, and all four catch people out every season.

  1. Online only. Since 1 July 2024 there has been no ticket office. Turning up without a booking means not getting in.
  2. Thirty minutes of grace. Book 10:00 and you may enter until 10:30. After that the ticket is void and not refunded.
  3. No re-entry. Step outside and the visit is over. Do the paid zone first and the free park afterwards, never the other way round.
  4. Two resident-only windows every day. Before 09:30, and again from 18:00 to 20:00 depending on the season, the park is open to Barcelona residents and Passi Verd holders only. Arriving at 08:45 to beat the crowds earns you a wait by the fence.

Each ticket also carries a name, and you can buy a maximum of seven in one transaction.

💡 Pro Tip
Screenshot the ticket before you leave the hotel
Screenshot the QR code before you set off. The gates sit high on a hill where reception is patchy, and the code has to be scanned inside a 30-minute window that does not pause while you hunt through your inbox. It is a dull precaution that saves an 18 EUR ticket.

Work out which Park Güell ticket you need

Which of the nine rates applies to you. Under-6s go free, 7 to 12 and over-65s pay less, and a Barcelona History Museum ticket knocks 3,50 EUR off. Most visitors never check.

Whether you need a ticket at all. The best panorama in the park is in the free zone, and for repeat visitors or anyone short of time that is the better visit.

What a guided tour really costs. The official tour fee sits on top of entry rather than replacing it, which is why the true total is higher than most guides print.

What is behind the fence and what is not.

Then plan the rest of your Park Güell visit

Closing time moves with the season, from 17:30 in winter to 19:30 in high summer.

Which slot to book, and how many hours to set aside once you are inside.

Which gate, and the one working escalator. Every approach is uphill, and the route most guides still recommend has its mechanical stairs out of service.

Doing Sagrada Família in the same check - the gap between the two slots matters more than either slot.

If checkout fails or your date looks sold out, there are specific causes and specific fixes.

Park Güell tickets: common questions

How much is a Park Güell ticket?
18,00 EUR for a general adult, VAT included. Reduced and free rates apply to children, over-65s, disabled visitors, MUHBA holders and Barcelona residents.
Is it cheaper to book through a partner?
No. Park Güell has a fixed public price, so nobody undercuts the operator on the same product. The "from" figure on a partner listing is the cheapest option and age band available, not the adult rate. You pay slightly more for the audio guide and the refundable option.
Can I buy tickets at the entrance?
No. Online only since 1 July 2024, and there is no box office.
What happens if I am late for my time slot?
You have 30 minutes after the time printed on the ticket. After that it is void and there is no refund.
Can I get into Park Güell for free?
Yes. A large part of the park is free to enter, including the highest viewpoint. Only the Monumental Zone needs a ticket.
How far ahead should I book?
One to two weeks outside peak season, longer for July, August and Easter, when morning slots do sell out. Planning further out than about three months? The operator has not released your date yet, and a partner is the only way to lock it in now.
